The Crip Walk, also known as the C-Walk, is a dance move that was created in the 1970s by first generation Crip member Robert "Sugar Bear" Jackson, and has since spread worldwide. Crip walking means to be performing a dance created by Crips gang members where you move your feet to spell the word “CRIP”;C-R-I-P. The slang terms “Crip Walk”, “C-walk”, and “Crip walking” has been used by Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Childish Gambino, Tyga, 21 Savage, Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples, and many more rappers. The slang terms “Crip Walk” (also spelled “Crip-walk” or “Cripwalk”), “C Walk” (also spelled “C-walk” or “C walk”), “Crip Walking” (also spelled “Crip-walking” or “Cripwalking”) are nouns and verbs with are used to reference a dance created by Crips gang members in Compton, CA in the 1970’s. The crip walk is a street dance where they move their feet to spell the word CRIP or the crossed out name of their opps or enemies, including that of rival gang the Bloods.
